Wendy was born on a small farm southwest of Louisville, KY. At age nine, the 4-H Agent recruited her mother as a 4-H club leader for their small elementary school. Her mother agreed, and their family life would never be the same. Internationally, Wendy served as Technology Information Specialist for USDA/4-H Military Project, developing a Computer Lab Manuel used at over 100 military installations worldwide. Nationally, she pioneered the National Network for Family Resiliency that became CYFERnet (Children, Youth, Family and Extension Research Network). Wendy initiated and introduced state programs including Kids on the Block, Staying Home Alone (latchkey), High School Financial Planning, 4-H Cloverbud programs, and LABO International Programs.
From a multi-state perspective, Wendy developed statewide 4-H youth protection policies and training for all extension personnel at both The Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky. Through 4-H, Wendy met people and made friends from all around the world, and it provided many opportunities to be of service to her fellow man. She took advantage of those opportunities and repaid the debt in kind and in full measure. Wendy has given a lifetime of active service to others through 4-H, Cooperative Extension, church, and both domestic and international mission trips; all the while, promoting 4-H and encouraging youth to participate and adults to volunteer.
