Terril spent 41.5 years as a 4-H Agent, County Agent, District Agent, and State 4-H Program Leader. He raised over $750,000 for the Louisiana 4-H Program. Terril organized Vermilion Parish 4-H Livestock Show and sale, with sales over $150,000 annually. Through his involvement, the Louisiana 4-H license plate was developed in 2002 for 100 years of 4-H. In 2002, Terril established 4-H Day at the Capital engaging an average of 1,200 4-H’ per year with legislators, and he established 4-H Dinner at the Governor’ Mansion where 75 4-H members of the six state leadership boards annually meet with the Governor and legislators. Terril coordinated 4-H University for 10 years with over 1,200 4-H members participating in contests and educational programs.
Terril organized 4-H Day with the Tigers in 2003, reaching 2,000 4-H members and families annually. In 2004, 4-H Tailgate Party offered 4-H LSU football attendees food, refreshments, prizes and performances by LSU Cheerleaders, Golden Girls, and Mike the Tiger. Terril established 4-H Night with the New Orleans Hornets in 2003 with 2000 4-H members raising $7,110.60 annually. He coordinated NBA Player Amare Stoudemire’ donation of 10 cars (value $250,000) to 10 4-H volunteers affected by Hurricanes Rita and Katrina. He served as National Chair of the Sports Fishing Committee for 2 years, Chairman and Vice Chairman of National 4-H Congress Design Team and Vice President of Headquarters Committee.
