Roger C. Beach is a graduate of Colorado School of Mines as a petroleum refining engineer. He joined Unocal Corporation as a refining engineer trainee at the Lemont, Illinois Refinery and later became General Superintendent of Operations at the Beaumont, Texas refinery. In 1975, Beach was Unocal’ first participant in the President’ Executive Interchange Program in Washington, D.C. and worked for the Secretary of the Navy.
In 1976, he became director of planning for the 76 Division in Los Angeles. He became President, Unocal Refining & Marketing Division, in 1986. He was named a senior vice president of Unocal Corporation in 1987 and was elected to the company’ Board of Directors in 1988. Beach became Unocal’ President & Chief Operating Officer in 1992, Chief Executive Officer in 1994, and Chairman in 1995. Unocal Corporation sponsored the national 4-H public speaking awards program.
4-H member 1951-54. Served on National 4-H Council, Board of Trustees, 1988-1995; National 4-H Council Board Chair, 1994-1997. Vice Chairman of Resource Development Committee, Western Region.
