Phyllis’ accomplishments in support of positive youth development during her almost 50 years of volunteer service to the 4-HYFD program are numerous. She was the founder of the Massachusetts 4-H Horse Program, which is the largest project area in 4-H today with an enrollment of 1,800 youth from across the Commonwealth. She was instrumental in developing, reviewing and updating many of the resources used in the project area.
For the past 11 years, Mrs. Cox had been an active corporate member of the Massachusetts 4-H Foundation. Her belief in developing the entire youth through 4-H projects has led to the development of extensive leadership and citizenship programs at the local and state level. Visual Presentations, a communications project that focuses on public speaking and involves thousands of youth ages 6-19, is just one example of this.
