    Dr. Coreil played a major role in making Louisiana 4-H one of the nation’s outstanding 4-H programs. He helped establish the Marsh Maneuvers coastal wetlands program and the Youth Wetlands Week (YWW) program. Through a $150K annual state grant, YWW reaches over 325,000 youth who planted over 50,000 vegetative plantings in vulnerable coastal wetland areas. He was a driving force for the acquisition of 32+ acres for building a 4-H Wetlands Lab Building and Multipurpose Building, Shooting Sports Range and fish pond at 4-H Camp.

    Dr. Coreil was instrumental in establishing the State 4-H Museum, 4-H Hall of Fame, 4-H Football and Tailgate Party, 4-H Day at the Capital, and the 4-H Great American Seafood Cook-Off in New Orleans. While Director, Dr. Coreil established two 4-H charitable fundraisers in support of 4-H youth development programs. As a 4-H Foundation Board member, he continues to lead the annual Guns & Gumbo fundraiser netting over $30K in 2017, and contributing over $180,000 towards Louisiana 4-H programming and a $50,000 donation for capital improvement projects at 4-H Camp.

    Dr. Coreil initiated AgMagic in several major Louisiana cities for the education of younger children. Upon retirement, Dr. Coreil and his wife Arlene established a Coreil Youth Wetland & Coastal Resources 4-H Endowment Fund within the LA 4-H Foundation, with a current $65K endowed balance supporting 4-H youth wetlands & coastal resources educational programs statewide.
