    Nancy Bull began her Extension career in 1975 as a County Educator in Ohio, where she was responsible for the Family and Consumer Sciences Program including 4-H Youth Development and EFNEP. In 1995 she came to the University of Connecticut as Associate Dean for Outreach and Public Service and Associate Director for CES. In this role she also served as State 4-H Program Leader actively engaging with four 4-H camps, the 4-H Development Fund, the 4-H Education Center at Auer Farm, and five 4-H fairs. At the regional level, Nancy served for nine years as Chair of the New England 4-H Council which coordinated the 4-H program at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, MA.

    Recognizing the need to establish an endowed account that would provide ongoing funding for 4-H programs in Connecticut, including support for national 4-H trips, Dr. Bull created the 4-H Centennial Fund in 2002 in recognition of the National 4-H Program’ 100th birthday. The endowed fund provides support annually for hundreds of youth to participate in national 4-H trips and statewide events, and for 4-H volunteers with training opportunities. Nancy was involved at the national level with various ECOP committees, the NASULGC CREATE 21 Farm Bill Committee, BAA Budget and Advocacy Committee, and the National 4-H Council Board of Directors.

    My 4-H introduction began at the Carthage fair (Cincinnati) and developed into a career choice as a college freshman. As a new agent, the 4-H Chair guided me through the fair: Barb Johnston taught me 4-H. I taught her leadership skills. 4-H is a life changing experience, where dedicated volunteers lead the way through good times and bad. I married into an Extension family – father on my search committee, mother as President of Extension Homemakers, spouse and sister 4-H participants. 4-H is a multi-generational family. I cherish my 4-H friends across Connecticut and Ohio as part of my 4-H family.
