In his lifetime, Mylo Downey progressed in 4-H from a member to County Extension Agent to State 4-H Leader to Director of 4-H and Youth Development programs of the Federal Extension Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture. He retired in 1967 from the nation’ top 4-H leadership position. During his career he served as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the National 4-H Club Foundation and as a member of the National 4-H Center Development Committee. Mylo Downey died July 8th, 1976, at the age of 71. One of his legacies is a scholarship at the University of Maryland for deserving students in the field of agriculture.
