Ken Dilling didn’t brag of his accomplishments – he extolled the exciting opportunities in 4-H. A Cooperative Extension partner since 1983, American Income Life Special Risk Division under his leadership doubled from 1983-97 by providing special activities accident/illness coverage for members and volunteers. This coverage reaches nearly 70% of county 4-H programs nationally. Ken was instrumental in financial support to National 4-H Congress, NACAA, NEAFCS, NAE4-HA and the National 4-H Camping Institute. His commitment to support and honor extension professionals continues as American Income Life sponsors Distinguished Service Awards for Extension associations and is an NAE4-HA Ruby Clover Sponsor.
When National 4-H Congress moved from Chicago to Memphis, Ken was among the first to continue support for the program and the outstanding 4-H members it recognizes. American Income Life has supported National 4-H Congress since 1969 by hosting a program for attendees and a breakfast for volunteer leaders, state and national 4-H staff. Ken was critical in creating a culture of financial support for 4-H and Cooperative Extension. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of support might not have happened without his promoting of 4-H to his corporate office and personally with a 4-H license plate.
