Even though Karen Crouse was not a youth member of the 4-H program, when she married her husband, her involvement of working and helping youth in Delaware grow and develop started and has continued for 36 years with many impacts made along the way. Karen initially served as a project leader for 6 years and for the past 30 years as served as the Organizational Leader for the Harrington Sunshine 4-H Club. This club has always had a large enrollment spiking at 140 members for over 20 years and currently has a membership of 70+ youth. This club has active participation with youth being involved in a variety of 4-H project areas with emphasis on community service and leadership. The club has been recognized as the top club in their County for community service work for over30 years. Karen has been a very active member of the County Leaders Association serving on many annual committees and assisting with a variety of trainings for both youth and adults on a variety of topics. She has been active with many states as well as national initiatives for Delaware 4-H. She is an active member of the Kent County 4-H Order of Links and has assisted in raising important funds to support the county and state programs as well as assisted in providing many experiences for Delaware 4-H youth. The youth in her club have excelled in so many areas and have gone on to be active and productive citizens in their communities.
