Mr. Lundy grew up in Neshoba County, MS, where he was an active 4-H member participating in various projects and activities. Among his most prized possessions is an ax he received when he won the Mississippi 4-H Wood Chopping Contest in 1935. For over 20 years, he was a member of 4-H Club Foundation of Mississippi, including 11 years as Chair, and the State 4-H Advisory Council. While Foundation Chairman, MS 4-H grew to over 128,000 members (25% of school age youth), and Foundation holdings grew by about $1 million. He established the Francis and Emma Nell Lundy Endowment fund in excess of $50,000 for 4-H youth leadership development.
Mr. Lundy annually invested hundreds of dollars to support our youth and organization, which Mrs. Emma Nell Lundy continues. Mr. Lundy was a retired administrative employee of BellSouth. By his efforts and BellSouth’ dedication to MS youth, BellSouth became and remains one of MS 4-H’ most generous and supportive corporate donors. At age 77, he was still a man of great vitality. He worked as a legislative consultant, which proved invaluable to MS 4-H in the support from our state legislature. His truest value and greatest gift was his love of our youth, and they loved him. His refrigerator was covered with the many notes he received from them each year.
