Dr. Nauman was a 4-H member in Oklahoma in her youth and primarily focused on clothing and foods and nutrition projects, and leadership development. As 4-H alumna from Oklahoma and a faculty member in Oklahoma and South Dakota, she arrived in Idaho to serve as the University of Idaho 4-H Youth Development Program Director in 1988. She held this post until 2012. She brought a strong commitment to outreach and engagement with a personal determination to make improvements in the lives of children and families. Dr. Nauman was also very committed to building inclusive work environments. She was the Idaho State Coordinator for the Change Agent States for Engagement (CASE) Project and Idaho’s Journey for Diversity and Human Rights.
Dr. Nauman was sought out for leadership development opportunities, including the 4-H Leadership Development Executive Institute and the National Extension Leadership Development Institute. Her major accomplishments include: $4.8 million for ID Afterschool Programs; $7 million in grants for International and Engagement and Outreach Programs; increased Friends of 4-H Endowment from $55,00 to over $2 million; National Coordinator, award winning “Achieving High Quality Child Care” video conference downlinked in 48 states; Chair, 4-H International Programs Committee; Chair, 4HCCS; Western Region Director, National Network for Child Care; Chair, Western 4-H Program Leaders; Adviser, State 4-H Leaders Assn.; State Coordinator, ID After School Conference.
