For the last 50 years, Corine Miller, co-leader of the 80 member Victory Worker’ 4-H club, has been mentoring and motivating local youth. As a 10-year 4-H member, Corine says ” Make the Best Better” has been the standard for her life. From teaching heritage basket weaving, 4-H records, clothing & textiles, public speaking and photography to organizing service projects, Corine engages other volunteers to help provide their expertise. Under her leadership, fund-raisers annually support about 60 members to attend 4-H camp. Corine encourages her members and volunteers to practice leadership and citizenship. To date at least 100 members have earned trips to National 4-H Conference or National 4-H Congress.
Corine served as county Leaders Assn. treasurer, secretary and vice president and is a 4-H Advisory Council member. She served on many state 4-H curriculum committees. Corine helped establish an endowment of over $100,000 for the NH 4-H Foundation. She served on committees when NH hosted the 1994 & 2008 Northeast Regional Leader Forums. She was named 2006 Pittsfield ” of the Year”. She raises funds for various local non-profits and her church. She served on the town budget committee, helped to build a new community center and volunteers at the local center for at risk youth. She says the life skills she learned through 4-H guided her management and expectations of herself and others in her career.
