    Hoover Carden, a native of Fairfield, Texas, served the people of Texas and the Extension Service for over 40 years. Carden’ career included one year of teaching vocational agriculture, five years in the United States Army and 12 years as a county Extension agent.

    He received the Superior Service Award from USDA for outstanding leadership in planning, evaluating and the development and implementation of educational programs that impacted 34 Texas counties. Carden is listed in Who’ Who Among Black Americans and served on the National 4-H Council Board of Trustees.
