Andy was an eight year ID 4-H member, served as a State 4-H Assn. officer and was selected to attend National 4-H Congress as state winner in field crops. He later was an IFYE to India. As a young volunteer leader, he was asked to lead the county teen group, a role he continued for 27 years. He started the 4-H Ambassador Program in Idaho that just celebrated 20th years and has reached over 600 4-H members. Andy seved on the national 4-H TAXI design team and was one of the key trainers. He has been active in recruiting and mentoring volunteers as a member of the Volunteer Middle Manager team. He is past president of both the Idaho 4-H Endowment Board and the Idaho 4-H Leaders Association.
Andy became the 4-H representative on the statewide Advisory Council for UI College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where he was an effective advocate for 4-H. He is an excellent role model that young people easily identify with and strive to emulate. Andy is a frequently sought out speaker and trainer in the area of working with teens and leadership development. His sincere dedication to 4-H is evident from the thousands of hours he donates to the program, often financing his own travel both to attend and provide training.
