Anna ‘Mickey’ Peters was raised on a family farm in central PA, the youngest of six children. She joined 4-H at a young age, as her mother was a 4-H leader. With her late husband, Clarence, she organized beef, rifle, wildlife, and community clubs, working with over 500 members over 51 years as a 4-H leader. Her five children have served as volunteers. Mickey is a member of Keystone Society and the PA 4-H Development Council. She chaired a 4-H Endowment Fund charter campaign that has a value of $318,000 and returns over $12,000 annually to the county. Mickey helped to host the Northeast Regional Leader Forums in 1991 and 2004. She has been a member and secretary of the PA Council of Cooperative Extension Associations (PCCEA).
Beyond 4-H, Mickey is active in church, Grange, and community organizations. She has served on the Grange Fair committee as beef chair and overall livestock superintendent for 18 years. An organizer of the junior livestock sale, the sale has grown to an annual gross of $288,000. She was elected as a Ferguson Township Supervisor serving from 1992-99 and was vice chair for four years. She was recently recognized for her service to the Board of Centre County Farm Land Trust. Besides her 4-H and community work, Mickey worked for Penn State University, retiring in 1991 from her position as Administrative Aide in the Dept. of Finance in the College of Business Administration.
