Anna began 4-H membership at the Highland Grade School and continued through high school. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and was employed by UK as an agent doing adult and 4-H programs. Attendance at the Extension summer school introduced her to the University of Tennessee graduate program. After completing a master’s degree, she served as Assistant. Professor of 4-H at UT. Main accomplishments include a grant for a teen communication conference and giving leadership to the organization of Tenn. 4-H Alumni, which still flourishes today. She returned to the University of Kentucky for 25 years. She was the coordinator for 4-H staff development and educational resources for 4-H clubs, citizenship, and food-nutrition.
A highlight of Anne’s food-nutrition program was working with the nutrition specialist to receive a grant to sponsor awards, audio materials, and literature for a breads project. The resources were shared nationwide. She co-authored Kentucky’s 4-H History. She served as the State 4-H Leader and was president of Human Environmental Sciences, Gamma Sigma Delta, Epsilon Sigma Phi, and the Specialist Association. Following retirement she served for ten years as the coordinator for Kentucky’s 4-H participation in CHARACTER COUNTS!® She is a member of The Kentucky 4-H Foundation, The Scovell Society, The Presidents Club, and The Society of 1865.
